Hi everyone,
Ann here to announce our Pinworthy winners for September's
Cogs, Gears and Textures challenge. As usual we had many fabulous entries and we want to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to enter our challenge. It is so hard to narrow our winners down to just three, but needs must, so after due consideration, these are the entries the creative guides have chosen in no particular order:

So once again, thank you to all of you who entered our challenge and shared your creativity and congratulations to our winners.

I will send you your pinworthy badges shortly. Can't wait to see what you create. Of course don't forget to come back next week to see Annie's tutorial for her entry to that challenge!

Cogs, Gears and Textures Tutorial

Hello, this is Ann, thank you for joining me today. I'm sharing a tutorial for my project made for this month's Cogs, Gears and Texture Challenge!

To begin, I sprayed the watercolor paper with Distress Oxide Sprays in Vintage Photo, Mermaid Lagoon and Iced Spruce and spritzed more water. When it dries, I adhered the old book paper and distress the edges, then stamped the numbers on the corners and titched around the panel.

I dry embossed the silver metallic cardstock by Mechanics 3-D Embossing Folder and Rub a Distress Black Soot Paint all over the surface of the foil, getting it down into the crevasses of the design. Using a paper towel and wipe away the excess black paint. You may repeat this process until you achieve the depth of black you desire. Heat dry.

To make more texture, I stamped the Splatter on the edges with VersaMark and sprinkled some Taos Sunset Baked Texture Powder. Hot embossing it with embossing heat gun.

I smeared some Crackle Texture Paste on the edges of linen board.

For the Faceted heart, I covered it with Distress Paint in Peacock Feathers. I adhered gears on the heart to make it look more industrial, then distressed with Walnut Stain Ink. I added some metal charms on the bottom of the heart.

I die-cut gears from chipboard and used Distress Oxide in Rusty hinge to cover them, then I sprayed them with Clear Texture Spray. When they dry, I used Distress Crayons in different brown and black colors.

To finish this deco, I adhered some gears and Quote Chips on the panel.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you have enjoyed your time here with me today. If you have not done so yet, there is still plenty of time to join in our Cogs, Gears and Textures challenge, we would love to see what you come up with for that.

Happy crafting and stay safe!

Cogs, Gears and Textures

Hello everyone, It's Ann here to welcome and introduce to our new challenge here at A Vintage Journey! The chosen theme this time is

Cogs, Gears and Textures

Here is the challenge brief:

Let us see you create amazing textures on your cogs and gears. Embossing powders, pastes, rusting or gilding waxes, acrylics ..... whatever your imagination suggests. Just remember to create your project in one of our preferred styles: vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journaling, industrial, timeworn or steampunk.

As usual, the Creative Guides have some projects to help inspire you, be sure to visit their blogs and leave them some comment love.

I really like the theme of "industrial" and "steampunk". I used a lot of gears and Mechanics 3-D Embossing Folder to make this deco. I will do a tutorial here on the blog of how it all came together soon, meanwhile, if you want to see more photos, just visit my blog.

For my project this month I decided to revisit an older tag that I first posted in 2016.  It is one of my favorites so wanted to give it a second life.  With the theme of  Cogs, Gears and Texture - it fits perfectly.   I hope you will stop by my blog here to say hi.

What a fabulous theme... it gave me a chance to take some of the techniques I've learned from Andy Skinner over the years out for a spin.  I had to adapt them slightly as I'm working with a travelling stash at the moment, but I did have three different texture pastes for the background and, thankfully, I'd remembered to put in some chipboard cogs and gears!  Come over to Words and Pictures to see how it all came together.

I decided to create some Steampunk Butterflies using Cogs & Gears for Ann's fabulous challenge theme. A TH embossing folder provided texture on the  corners of the tag too. Further details regarding my make can be found on my blog HERE

Ann's fabulous challenge has given me a great opportunity to get out my stash of MDF cogs and gears and go to town with my favourite rusting techniques. If you'd like to learn more, hop over to my Artistic Craft Dabbler blog and all will be revealed.

Cogs, Gears, and Textures is a fantastic challenge (thanks Ann!)! I decided to create a tag mixing some of my favorite products! The new Distress Color Crackling Campfire is perfect for this challenge!
I'm in the Halloween mood so I continue to create following this theme! If you want to read how I made the background visit my Blog Yayascrap & More.

I'm sure you'll agree our Creative Guides have shared some fabulous projects offering lots of inspiration.
We would love for you to join us in this challenge as we are really looking forward to seeing your creations.
At the end of the challenge the Creative Guides will choose 3 Pinworthy winners who will each be awarded a Pinworthy badge to display on their blog and their winning projects will be pinned to our pinterest board.
The Challenge begins today and remains open for entries until 1st Octorber 2020.

Creative Card Making with Ann

Hi Everyone and Welcome
It's Ann from Ann Chuang Crafts here with you today as we head out on the last leg of August's journey with our regular "Creative Card Making" post. I used Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Alloy to make the background. Hope you like it.

Here's the tutorial :
I started with dripping 75% Alcohol on Yupo paper. Then drop some alcohol inks and gold Alloy. Using a hair dryer to make it flow. Then, I let it dry completely.

I stamped the flowers from PaperArtsy JOFY97 in Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink.

I stamped another flower image on watercolor paper and colored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush.

To finish this card, I added the sentiment from Tim Holtz Tiny Text stamp set.

Thank you for joining me on the Creative Card Making journey today and don't forget there is still a little time to join in our current challenge which is "Tag you're It!".

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Creative Card Making with Ann

Hi Everyone and Welcome
It's Ann from Ann Chuang Crafts here with you today as we head out on the last leg of September's journey with our regular "Creative Card Making" post. I always make cards for family and friends, so I’m pleased to be sharing an insect card that I made for my son. He is very interested in insects and expects to become an entomologist in the future. I want to encourage him to work hard for his dreams.

It all started with some wrinkle-free distressing... all Distress Oxides, no Inks to start with. There're pumice stone and vintage photo in the mix.

When the watercolor paper dry enough, I stamped Handwritten correspondence on it by Distress Ink hickory smoke. Then cut an oval from the paper and distressed the edges with Distress Ink walnut stain.

And then, with some wrinkle-free distressing again...all Distress Oxides. There're wilted violet, iced spruce, broken china and faded jeans. This time I use black paper to make a background, I love the effect so much.

I used tangled twigs die from Tim Holtz. The tangled twigs piece adhered to the background.

I used Tim Holtz Entomology dies and stamps. I have to say...I love this stamp set, there're lots of creepy, cool and beautiful bugs plus an awesome background script stamp.

To create these bugs… I stamped them in Intense Black onto white paper. Then lined up the corresponding bug die and taped it down with some washi tape. After they were cut, I colored them with some Copic Markers and used Glossy Accents to dress them up a bit.

Look, here are the beautiful bugs.

I really love this card! If you are interested, you can find a full list of materials that I used to create this card over at my blog here.
Thank you for joining me on the Creative Card Making journey today and don't forget there is still a little time to join in our current challenge which is "Box It Up".

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
