Hi there crafty friends. I'm so honored and grateful to be here with you as a guest designer. My name is Mona Pendleton, I live in Phoenix, AZ with my family. I started crafting too long ago to remember exactly when! I enjoy creating with stamps, paints, inks, stencils, fabric and anything that allows me to be creative.

Today I have a tutorial and project to share for the Bountiful harvest themed challenge. I created a mixed media style canvas featuring an embossed, patina painted background along with a crackled pumpkin.

First dry emboss watercolor card stock for the background: (Insert Step 1)

Die cut 3 oval dry embossed pieces to create the pumpkin: (insert Step 2)

Apply paint to ovals, adhere together to create pumpkin: (insert Step 3)
VJStep3Paintedpumpkin
Apply crackle paint to pumpkin and allow to dry: (insert Step 4)

Trim dry embossed words, adhere to canvas using gel medium: (insert Step 5)

Randomly apply various Distress Paints and Distress Ink to canvas until desired patina look is achieved: (insert Step 6)

Apply Distress Stain to add depth: (insert Step 7)

I had so much fun creating this Bountiful harvest themed canvas. I hope you enjoy the finished result and find the tutorial helpful. Thank you for traveling along with me here at A Vintage Journey and many thanks to the entire A Vintage Journey DT for the wonderful opportunity.

You are most welcome Mona and it’s been a real pleasure following your creative process and seeing such a beautiful canvas. It is full of wonderful texture and gorgeous colours, perfect for this time of year in the northern hemisphere.

And now to the winners of our Halloween – To die For challenge hosted by our very own Anne.

Thank you to everyone who embraced our Halloween challenge.  We had such an array of fabulous entries it made choosing a winner very difficult indeed but as there can only be one winner this is:

# 22 - Nicole of Canadian Nickel Scrap’n
http://canadiannickelscrapn.blogspot.ca/2014/10/you-know-how-i-love-halloween.html
Nicole Halloween
Nicole created the most wonderful whimsical Halloween Town full of fun with lots of detail and interest, she used many Tim Holtz techniques and she used the dies in such creative ways.  Her attention to detail is incredible.

Nicole wins the £10 voucher from our wonderful Sponsor, Country View Crafts and Nicole's entry will feature on our Winner's Pinterest Board.

Our Top Three will be featured on our Pinworthy Board and in numerical order these are:
#16 - Maggie H of Capricorn Crafts
http://capricorncrafts.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/eeeeeeeeeek.html
Maggie's luminary is beautiful in it's simplicity.  She 'spooked' it up by the wonderful addition of the lacey cobweb and spiders to great effect.

#24 - Shelly Hickox of Stamptramp  http://shellyhickox.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/halloween-crow-altered-trading-block.html
Shelly made very creative use of the Sizzix block die, her piece is full of Tim techniques, topped it off with a fun crow, just perfect for Halloween.

#30 - Sara of Sara’s Closet
http://sarascloset1.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/my-muffins-are-to-die-for.html
Sara used an old muffin tin for her fabulous creation, it is so novel and considering that she had no Halloween dies, she made a wonderful Halloween piece of home décor.

All worthy winners I am sure you will agree, thank you to everyone who took part and to Anne for hosting.

You have one more week to enter our fabulous current challenge Bountiful Harvest. We have already had some wonderful entries, so please pop over to try your hand at winning a £10 vouvher from Country View Crafts or obtaining one of our Pinworthy badges.

We will see you again Monday with a wonderful project from our latest Guest Creative Guide.

Have a fabulous weekend.

hugs Brenda, Anne and the team xxx
