Welcome Sue as a Guest Creative Guide

I love getting our Monday guest posts ready as I am able to see all these wonderful projects come to life and feel inspired and motivated to get on with my own crafting. We are very lucky to have the most amazingly artistic crafters join us and today is no exception as we welcome Suzanne from Suzz’s Stamping Spot.

Hello! My name is Suzanne Czosek. I live in the Midwest in the United States with my husband, three children and our two dogs. I have always been fascinated with reading and art. My love for art started in grade school where every elective I could select I chose art.

I was thrilled when I was asked to guest design at The Vintage Journey. The design team and their art is inspiring. I love that the challenges are inspired by Tim’s art. This provides so many possibilities. Tim’s endless techniques and creativity has inspired many a new idea or desire to try something new.

I was so pleased to find out the challenge was birds of a feather. I had so many ideas raising through my head and decided on a birdcage ornament that opens to showcase a sweet set of birds perched on holly.

It all started with two birdcage dies folded in half. I didn’t worry about the center wire on the birdcage and folding it in half. I knew I would be sponging with my Ranger dye inks as this is one of the first things that I learned from Tim’s different projects.

I love using tissue tape as a way to hinge my pieces together and it adds a little touch of script and texture over the stamped images.

I layered in stamped music and then the birds. They were colored with a touch of ranger dye inks using a waterbrush and then shadowed with a watercolor pencil and waterbrush.

I finished the cage off with a bow and some bells along with a wreath which tore when I removed if from the die and gave me the inspiration to add it to the front of my birdcage. This little ornament/tag will be on a present this year in place of a bow.

Thank you Sue for being our guest creative guide today and sharing your gorgeous creative project. You’ve now got me thinking as to how I can apply your techniques to different dies and make other types of ornaments to decorate the Christmas tree or as you are doing add it to a wrapped gift for underneath.

Have a great week everyone and we’ll see you again on Friday with another new challenge and there's still time to add your Tim inspired bird projects before it closes on Thursday evening. Some robins and red cardinals would go down a treat if you are still into making your Christmas cards.

Take care.
