Art Journalling Winner, Pinworthies, and Guest Day

Hello everyone and welcome to our wonderful day where we celebrate our Winner and Pinworthies from the Art Journalling With Tim challenge, as well as welcoming another amazing Guest Creative Guide to join us on the journey.

There were some really amazing entries last month, and there was such variety too.  You definitely combined Tim techniques and products with your own journalling styles to create some exciting and meaningful artwork.  I thoroughly enjoyed visiting each and every single journal spread, and it was really hard for us to pick out favourites.

But before we get to the big announcement, we're delighted to welcome the lovely Rachel of Fisher's Cards and Crafts as our Guest Creative Guide this month, and she has some more inspiration for our exciting challenge, Baby You're a Firework!

Hello there! Well I feel very honoured to be here having been lucky enough to win the 'Things with Wings' challenge set by the lovely Anne in August. Here's a little bit about me!

My name is Rachel Fisher and I am a full time mum to my two daughters Lucy and Penny and spend much of my time running around after them - and doing the usual mum things. We lost my husband Shaun, the girls' father, in January and are still getting used to him not being here with us.
We stay positive though - its what Shaun would want!
I love to run and swim and go to the gym but i also love my crafting which has become an increasing source of comfort. I love to make cards but mixed media is fast becoming my favourite thing of all. I spend a lot of time blogging about my makes at my blog and would love for you to visit me if you feel inspired!

This month's theme is 'Baby You're a Firework' - well I was at a bit of a loss at first but them I had a think and i thunk this might be okay - so I went ahead and made a house complete with its own firework backdrop.

I started by cutting Tim's village dwelling in hardboard that I get from the picture framers. It makes things so much more sturdy and if you ask nicely you might get it for free!

Next I inked up Tim's brick stencil using Rusty Hinge and cut the house shapes out again.

I stuck them to the sides of the house once it was assembled. I also cut roof shapes from red card and added tiles freehand using a fineliner pen.

The house base I painted with Hickory Smoke Distress Paint then added spritz using the Distress Marker tool. I also added a Tim Christmas tree that I already had coloured up.

For the fireworks I folder a piece of black card and stamped the Visible Image stamps in Versamark onto it, then added gold or white embossing powder and heat set. I also flicked it with white paint to make it look less uniform.

This is the finished piece. Its such a great die and I intend to use it to make gifts for the teachers at Christmas. I think I won't stick the roof down at the back and then I will fill it with some chocolates!!! I hope this gives you a little inspiration for the challenge.  Go on - join us!
Hugs, Rachel xx

What a fantastic interpretation of the challenge, Rachel - I love the fireworks exploding over the little house!  Thanks so much for sharing such a great creation with us.

And now on to the Art Journalling With Tim Winner and Pinworthies. First of all, here's our randomly chosen winner who will receive the prize voucher from our sponsor, Country View Crafts.

#2 Susan Janicula of klistersøster

Congratulations Susan!
Your page has such beautiful collaged ephemera over a wonderful background.  We hope you will be a Guest Creative Guide with us here in the future, and your voucher and winner's badge will be with you very soon.

Now on to the Pinworthies and, as I said, this was no easy decision to make.  But we had to whittle it down to three and here they are,
in no particular order.

There's an amazing blend of colours in the beautiful background and I love all the natural elements - the stencilling, choice of stamps, and the use of the Wallflower papers - in this lovely, gentle page.

Beulah Bee did the double with these two spreads in one post - too hard to pick between them!  Each of them uses stamping, colours and papers to create their atmosphere.

Impossible to leave out this incredible personal page with its powerful message - and since she mentioned it herself, I hope Mary Elizabeth won't mind me saying that's her own brain in the monster's head!

Congratulations all round!
Your badges and invitations will be on their way to you very soon.
I'd like to say another big thank you to all the entrants...
I honestly think you're all Pinworthy!
