Destination Inspiration - Love Is The Key

Hi fellow travelers and welcome to Terminal 1.   It's Sandy here today to share our travel bag items for this month.  We have arrived with a full travel bag to work with so let's find out what's in there.  We have:

Product - Craft Card
Color - Fired Brick (dark red)
Technique - Stenciling
Substrate -Burlap

February is the month of "Love" - I made a mixed media canvas in honor of  Valentine's Day.

Here's how it came together -

Start by painting a 5" X 7" canvas with the dark red.

Cut a piece of burlap that is a little smaller than the canvas and fray all the edges.

Glue burlap to canvas, then add a corner piece using Tim Holtz (TH) Mixed Media die.

Next stencil some random hearts with the TH Hearts Stencil.

Cut 2 banners, 1 from craft and 1 from red, ECD Stitched Fishtail Banners. Rough up the edges with the TH Paper Distresser
Stamp the word "Love" and a small heart on the craft banner from the Love Sentiments Clear Stamp set from ECD.

Although the banners have stitch marks, I went to my sewing machine and added some sewing on the edges with red thread.

To add that vintage feel, I added some Vintage Photo Distress Ink around the edges.

Add 2 hearts, 1 small one from ECD Entwined Hearts using craft.  1 large one from TH Scribbles & Splat using red.

Cut 1 heart from ECD Stitched Hearts that fits inside the entwined hearts and then add 2 smaller ones using craft.

For the finishing touches, splat a little white on the entire thing by using watered down gesso and a fan brush.  A knob on top, and of course the key.  Poke hole in canvas - add a Hitch Fasener and hang a key.

Come back each Monday this month to see what the Creative Guides have made using the same items in a totally different way.

Have a crafty week,
S@ndy
